GOTY Grace Thomas Opinions

Grace Thomas, the new GOTY, has came out. As American Girl puts it on their website,
"This enthusiastic girl loves to bake with friends and invent new recipes. Then a trip to Paris inspires her to try new things; including turning her passion for baking into a business."

Overall her collection is beautiful, but expensive.

    Grace Thomas Doll & Book
     Price: $120
Grace has brown hair, blue eyes, freckles,
and a resemblance of GOTY 2009 Chrissa.
I am upset that AG raised the price of the doll from
$110 to $120. Grace looks cute and young, but I
do not think I will get her since my sister already has Chrissa.
I will admit that the side bangs are unique, and frame Grace's
face well.

Grace Thomas Meet Outfit (I am reviewing the outfit separate from the doll)
      Price: $120 (comes with doll)
This meet outfit is very simple, and boring. My favorite part
is the shirt because it has the Eiffel Tower on it, but the skirt
seems very boring. This outfit seems very cheap, and has a
lack of detail. The boots are OK, but I think Grace should
have had an elegant meet outfit.

                     Grace's Welcome Gifts
                      Price: $32
Personally, I feel like the welcome gifts just aren't worth it and are
too expensive. The beret is a cute cotton candy color, but on Etsy
I've seen AG berets go for $3 that have cuter details. I could easily
make the postcards myself (thank you printer and Google Images!)
The flowers are cute but seem randomly included. My favorite part
is the Eiffel Tower cookie and macarons. Those are cute and can be
used in tons of imaginative play.

             Grace's Baking Outfit
              Price: $34
This set is adorable. I absolutely LOVE the baby blue
cupcake patterned shirt, and polka dot apron. The leggings
can easily be used to mix and match in different outfits which
is awesome. The shoes are the same color as the shirt,
and have a black bow. Plus the pretty pink headband!
This outfit comes with a lot, and the color scheme is
beautiful.

                 Grace's Pajamas
                 Price: $24
The light blue in these pajamas are so darling. They make
the pajamas look cute, and calming. The slippers have bows
which is a nice touch, and I love how the pants have
famous landmarks in France. These PJ's really connect with
Grace's story in a way other GOTY PJ's haven't. The tank top
is cute as well (love that bow!) and I think could work as a doll
camisole.

               Grace's City Outfit
               Price: $34
A lot of people love this outfit, but I do not. I really do not like the
layered sweater-shirt look. I think the different patterns and fabrics
make this outfit have too much going on. Plus, the shoes look like
they do not match the outfit. If the sweater did not have the shirt
under it, I think I would like this outfit much better.

          Grace's Opening-Night Outfit
          Price: $38
I love the dress in this outfit. The sheer is so gorgeous
the pink tulle is enchanting, and the sandals are pretty cute.
I dislike the headband though. It looks like a weird half circle
on her head. Though I like this outfit, I do not like the price.
I think that for what you get, the price should be cheaper.

                  Grace's Travel Coat
                   Price: $28
I think this coat is so darling and high quality. The baby blue
is very flattering on Grace, and her blue eyes. The black bow
is perfectly place, and the collar on the coat is very nice.
Yet for $28 I think the coat should be cheaper since it doesn't
come with anything else.

              Grace's Baking Set
              Price: $68
This baking set is cute, but similar to the Our Generation
one. I like the pink tablet and mixer, but I am not pleased
that for $68 you receive plastic stuff.

           Grace's French Bakery
           Price: $500
I don't think I have to say anything more but that
$500 is an ridiculous amount of money to spend for
a doll.

       Grace's French Bulldog
       Price: $22
Bonbon is cute, and has a black bow
by her ear which is adorable. The bow around
Bonbon's neck pops out nicely, and unfolds into
a leash which is great.

             Grace's Bistro Set
              Price: $85
This set has too many colors going on. The chair does not
match the table and menu blackboard. Also why is there
only one chair? For $85 you should receive TWO chairs!

              Grace's Travel Set
              Price: $44
Our Generation has a similar travel set for way cheaper and
comes with a lot more. The colors of this set are cute, but the
price does not justify this plastic product.

        Grace's Pastry Cart
        Price: $150
The Pastry Cart is a great alternative than the French Bakery.
I like how this set comes with a lot of different foods and accessories
that would look great in photo shoots, stop motions, and play. On the
other hand the price is too expensive.

Out of all the items here are the ones I may buy...
  • Grace's Travel Coat
  • Grace's Baking Outfit
  • Grace's Pajamas
